2019 ECEA Awards Banquet - Valley Forge Pa

It was a night of celebration as the members of the East Coast Enduro Association and ECEA Harescrambles Series gathered at the Valley Forge Casino and Convention Center to recognize their 2019 champions.

As always the house was full at this annual event. Both enduro and harescramble racers gather under one roof to present awards to some of the fastest riders this country has to offer. The ECEA has been notorious over the years for producing not only local but National and International champions. This association that was formed in 1972 continues to offer one of the best off road programs this country has to offer.

This annual event always kicks off with an afternoon vendor fair.

A little different format this year saw the ECEA award their 100% Club members mid afternoon.

Next up the evening format rolled into a social hour followed by a fantastic buffet style meal prior to the special awards and crowning of the 2019 champions. Association President Jamie Theurkauf thanked all the ECEA sponsors along with their officers and board members and the army of volunteers that works tirelessly to help put on these events.

Some ECEA volunteers were honored for their tireless efforts both on and off the track.

The High Mountain Dirt Riders were awarded "Harescramble of the Year".

The Ridge Riders won the "Enduro of the Year" award.

What A Hangover - Brapp Mag Weekend Race Report

Well it wasn't exactly what you're thinking - but it was the annual Hangover Harescramble put on by Trail Pros and the Sprint Cross Country Series (SXCS). Close to 500 racers from all around the Mid Atlantic region converged on the Wicomico Motorsports park to do battle in early January.

There's always a little first turn carnage when this many racers show up.

North Central Pa Initiative Update – December 2019

Making Sustainable Connections and Supporting Local Economies - Started June 2014.

 In late-December a group of folks met in Central Pa including state legislators, representatives from the DCNR and Penn Dot and local business owners and riders alike. Their mission is the North Central Pa Trail Initiative in Pennsylvania which will eventually open over 1700 miles of legal OHV riding for ATV’s and Side by Sides here in the state.

There was a record turnout for this years forum held in Lock Haven Pa.

It was just five short years ago when some folks from the Central Mountains ATV Association and the Snow Shoe Rails to Trails met with the DCNR and other local legislators, tourism committees, business owners and local residents to present their dream of creating a network of legal riding here in Pa similar to the Hatfield McCoy Trail System in WV.

The legal trail system continues to grow each year.

To date the CMATVA has helped legalize, sign and maintain 981 miles of legal riding in Pa. The goal with the help of Governor Wolfs signing of the Fiscal Code HB 1929 is to have 1700 miles of legal riding running from the Snow Shoe Rails to Trails the whole way to the NY state line by 2024.

One of the first phases of the development is to link the Bloody Skillet to the Whiskey Springs state trail system through the town of Renovo by April of 2020.  DCNR representatives explained to the group that limited resources and finding the best route has slowed down the process but it is still a goal to complete as soon as possible.

A next step would be then to get an approximate 5 mile stretch from Whiskey Springs connected to the Quiet Oaks Campground near the town of Cross Forks. Progress has been made here and the CMATVA is working with a local business along route 144 near Cross Forks to help make this a reality. The groups are also working with Penn Dot to obtain the state road trail connectors that are needed to help allow the whole system to come to fruition.

New in 2019, over five new townships opened their roads to riding, mostly in Tioga county and other ATV Clubs and organizations from the surrounding counties are joining the cause to expand the system even more and grants were received by DCNR and other organizations to help expand trails in the region.

Some goals for the initiative in 2020 are to continue to:

•         Continue the forum on ATV Related Economy
•          Open Noyes Township Rd. to Middle Branch parking lot at Whiskey Springs ATV System
•          Open a trail from Beech Creek to Bloody Skillet
•          Link SSRT to Clearfield, Elk, and Cameron Counties
•          Link the Waterville / Pine Creek Valley to Coudersport Pike
•          Continue to open Tioga County Municipalities
•          Work on Hyner to Renovo, Coudersport Pike, and Farrandsville

These are just some of the things that need to happen to continue the cause. We need everyones support in any way possible. Please reach out to your local representatives and let them know that you support the initiative. Please participate in fundraisers and rides when you can, join one of the clubs or associations that support the cause and please above all, obey the laws and ride responsibly. With your help I know the dream can become a reality.

Motocross 4 Christ Families Both Give and Receive

MX families are great and our camps couldn't be done without all of the wonderful families that come along side of the ministry.

That being said, MX kids often don't just race dirt bikes. We have kids and siblings that excel at running, soccer, football, swimming and other sports.

Aidan Dickins (far left in pic), one of our fastest mini riders at camp and top ten finisher at Loretta Lynn's, had a great football season as well. The Renegades from Skippers, Virginia won their league championships again this year!

Aidan and his dad Matt have been a blessing to MX4C. Matt is a seasoned excavator / track builder and has been such a asset to our track crew, volunteering countless hours each year.

Another family that we'd like to spotlight is the Weidners. Kevin (dad) and Preston (son) have been coming to camp for years. Preston started as a rider and now as a young adult, he serves as a volunteer, often serving from set-up to tear-down. Kevin is our go to guy for all kinds of tasks, from keeping hydration stations filled up to being one of our onsite EMTs.

This year a few more Weidners where at camp, younger sons Berkley and Steele participated as riders, Nellisa (mom) and Addie (daughter) served as volunteers.

Addie started as a freshman on her high school soccer team at Notre Dame High School in Easton, Pa. The Crusaders went to district championships and we look forward to following Addie and her team in future seasons!

One more family, there are so many of you! The Millers have been constants at camp. Ben Sr. (Dad) serves tirelessly from set-up to tear-dow, Ben Jr. and Jonathan (sons) serve on and off of the track and Emily (daughter) rides, helps out in the kitchen and crafts. Emily is a great rider but is a superstar soccer player too! She plays for multiple travel teams and is often the top scorer.

God gives us all a platform to give Him glory. Sometimes it may be on the podium, sports field or at your workplace. We all need to look for those opportunities to let His light shine through us.

We so appreciate all of our volunteers and families. It is fun to see kids grow up but still stay involved. I know we all get pulled in different directions and we have to prioritize different activities. Thank you for prioritizing MX4C!
